Bloggers I love

What do you think the best craft bloggers have in common? In my opinion, and besides being talented and quite regular in posting, they have great sense of aesthetics and good knowledge of design, photography and IT. One of my favourite things to do is browsing those blogs that contain a perfect blend of personal pinches and talent, and I wish I had the skills to blog like my most admired bloggers. However, I think I am an observer rather than a doer.
 
I really do not aim my blog become popular, yet I must admit I enjoy when I find I have a new follower on my blog. I like posting comments on my favourite craft blogs as well, even though some bloggers do not even bother to say thanks or stop by your blog when theirs are not so popular either. However, I must say most of them are so nice. Hence, these are my top-five bloggers:

5 Mona W.: her sewing projects are the cutest! I do not remember when I became a  follower of her blog, but when I see a new post of hers on my dashboard I just wish I was as gifted in sewing as she is.

4 Verykerryberry: her patchwork tutorials are just awesome! She also nicely replies every comment you make on her lovely blog. She teaches young children for a living, and I have the feeling she is the kind of teacher that every mom would want for her children.

 

3 Saidos da Concha: I got to know her blog when she apeared in "Ikea Family" magazine and became a follower of her blog since. I love her use of fabrics and her eye for mixing textiles. I find her blog a great source of inspiration due to the blend of pinches of her diary life and creativity.

2 Pink Penguin: Ayumi is talented, generous for sharing her amazing tutorials and very sweet when she replies every comment you make on her blog. She is releasing her patchwork book on the 23th of April and cannot wait to have it!

 

1Yummy Lavender: she is just my favourite. First of all, because I discovered the blogosphere thanks to her first French blog, which was called "Embo Coud". Secondly, she also encouraged me to start sewing and blogging. I might be biased because she's been my friend for years, but cannot avoid it she is just my top and the one who inspires me most.

Now I wish you told me what your favourite bloggers are! 

Boy and Girl

Lately I have been sewing for a new mummy, who gave birth to two adorable boy and girl twins. I visited her to the hospital and was able to see only the boy, due to the girl had to be put in the incubator.
I am sure she will be fine very soon and her parents can take her home with her brother, who, I am sure, he is missing her after sharing that tight room for 9 months.
I have already showed, in my last two posts, what I have been making for these adorable twins, so this is the final result.

 

 

Grey is the colour II

Look at the nice baby bibs I made to match with the hooded towel I showed you in my last post.
I used to use the same pattern for all my baby bibs, which comes from the book "Bend-the-Rules". This time I have not used that one, but The Spit Bib pattern I got from "Sew Much Ado" for free!

 

 

Now that I mention certain sewing books, I am just loving this one I got for Christmas.

 

 

 

Grey is the colour

I think I have an obsession with grey colour: the walls at home, the linen and if you look at my wardrobe I have all kind of clothing in that colour: sweaters, dresses, a coat, a pair of boots, socks, etc.
And talking about future mommies a have around me I made this hooded towel for a baby who is coming very soon. Neither pink nor blue, I think pale grey is the colour that suit babies most without regard the sex. Many people associate grey with sadness but for me is calm and serenity.
Since it was the first time I made a hooded towel, this tutorial was a great help! The lovely baby gift baskets Lidia makes are also a great source of inspiration, aren't they?

Recycling

I got this ugly handbag in Primark years ago. I think I have used no more than 10 times and was about to put it in the bin not a long time ago. I kept it though with the purpose of recycling the pieces.

To make this fold-over clutch I have used the zip and some of the vynil-fabric.



To be honest, I have no idea where or when I bought this fabric. I do not really like it, I find it a bit sad and seems I also recycled it from old curtains. Anyway, it was perfect to match with the brown recycled pieces and to train to make my first fold over clutch.

I think I am going to recycle more pieces and make a strap for it, but it will be later.

Birthday girl

My niece turned 5 yesterday and she is becoming an adorable little girl. She lives no less than 600 km away and cannot see her as much as I wished, so I sent her a little present by post with this birthday card I made with scraps.

Curvy Clutch In Use

I am posting this picture to show how well my favourite curvy clutch and my outfit matched at a lovely wedding my boy and I witnessed last July. Well, the black strap round my shoulder was not in my outfit actually, but this is the only pic I have to show carrying my handmade curvy clutch in use! You can see it better in this post.
