Disappearing 9 patch

Since I'm a follower of Allison's blog "Cluck Cluck Sew"
I've always wanted to make one her great Tutorials.

As I'm just an amateur seamstress, instead of a quilt I've made a cushion

To make it a bit more original I made it reversible with some linen fabric and a botton.

Spring smelling in Winter

I few days ago a received these two lavender hearts for Xmas. Aren't they lovely? They smell so nice!
If you want to see a basket full of them and find out about the sender click here.

My first pincushion

A good friend of mine was coming over to spend this five-day holiday  in Madrid. However, there has been a savage air traffic controller strike here in Spain, which has had the air traffic completely still for two days, so my friend has had to stay in Barcelona (hopefully she could get her money back). It's been a completely caos over here and thousands of Spanish people's holiday or relaxing plans have been ruined because of the greed of  very few people... At least I have had more time than usual to blog around to see what my favourite bloggers have been doing lately.

Pink Penguin is one of my favourite bloggers ever. I find her really generous to share her awesome tutorials with all of us. I have also always loved her cute little pincushions, so this morning I have made this one inspired by hers.

Antoinette Curvy Clutch

Yesterday I managed to have a quiet sewing Sunday. It's been a long time since my last sewing project due to I am taking an important exam next year and my little spare time is dedicated just to study and in a another project that also has to do with teaching.
My lovely seven followers know that I love this Keyka Lou Pattern (on sale at the moment!). In my oppinion, this is the best curvy clutch I've made so far, especially because of the beautiful fabric I've used. Yummy Lavender got it and gave it to me last summer. She also made a lovely curvy clutch with another fabric she got in this lovely shop.

Today it's snowing in Madrid, so the light wasn't very good to make pics, but I hope you could appreciate how beautiful this fabric is.

The Spanish Muse is back

Apparently  the long-waited release of some of the muses will be next year.

An American Muse

I'm so happy to hear Fiona Apple is realeasing a new album! Apparently we'll have to wait untill Spring 2010, but I'm sure the wait will be worth it. For the time being, we can delight ourselves with "extraorinay machine" from her last album released in 2005.

She's both a great singer and pianist, don't you think?

Crown Appliqué Bag

It started being my first appliqué attempt and ended up in a tote bag.

I made a heart-shaped inner pocket in the lining and turned up a reversible tote bag.

Where would you take this tote bag?

Inspiring sewing rooms

My landlord is going to install new windows in my little flat. This is good news even though everything will be messy and dirty for a few days, but it is a good chance to re-organize everything.
I have been thinking about how I'd love to have a craft-sewing room. I think I would definitely be more creative if I had a room like these ones:

Nevertheless, I can't have a sewing room like these, so I have to resign myself with a little and unconfortable corner for the time being. So my aim is to turn my little corner into a space as inspiring as these:

Sweet Home

I have been away on holiday in my favoutite places ( I'll post some pics soon) for more than a month. I have had a great time! However, when you are away you always miss those apparently insignificant things such as your pillow, some piece of clothes (specially when the clothes you have packed in your suitcase don't really suit with the weather :( ) or just drinking water from the tap (tap water in Madrid is the best one in the world! , much better than bottled water). I have been in lovely and beautiful places, but there's nothing like being in my beloved little flat and do the things I love, such as lie down on my sofa to read magazines and catch up on other blogs: Yummy Lavender made some lovely lavender wedding favour, Pink Penguin has just come out a new great tutorial, it has been Miss Pelicano's blog first aniversary, Lotus Sooz is amazing in this photo shoot,...
My time at home would not be the same without my "high-tech air conditioning" and this new ikea fabric cushion I made to put my feet on.

Mini make-up bags

I made these mini make-up bags last Autumn and gave away the last one yesterday. In exchange I got a super foot massage! A good friend of mine is starting to make business with this and without being biased I must say she is pretty good! I felt I was walking on clouds afterwards, she also told me things about myself through my feet, isn't it cool?.

I have been told to sell my sewing projects due to I give away everything I make. Yet isn't best business to get a foot massage instead of cash?

Super Size Fabric Basket

The more I make fabric baskets the more I like it. I made this super size one for my cousin, whose birthday was last June.
The dedication and the time that takes handmaking a birthday present is something especial. The satisfaction to give it away to someone who apreciates the meaning of handmaking rather than buying is my favourite part though.
The handles are also extra-large.

Las asas también son extra-grande.

Tote Bag

Tomorrow it's one of my dearest friend's birthday, and I've made this tote bag for her.

It might remind you this one.

A Surprise

Last Friday, when I got home from work I had a lovely surprise: my Dear Ms. Lavender, who has just been to Japan, had mailed me some lovely gifts:
El viernes pasado, cuando llegué a casa del trabajo me llevé una sorpresa: my querida Srta. Lavanda, la cual acaba de estar en Japón, me habia enviado unos regalitos:

This is a Geisha kitty which will be attached to my mobile phone from now on. Isn't it cute?
I think using a Keyka Lou pattern will be great for this Japanese fabric.

And some make up to cover the rings under my eyes after a hard week.

An Australian Muse

I am not very focused lately, just thinking of a million things at the same time without getting to any conclusion in the end. Anyway...
Just carrying on with the tradition of muses I'd like you to listen to this song from an Australian muse called Kylie. I remember I watched this video in 1994! I loved it then and I still love it.

Zara Home

A few months ago I got a comment asking me where I found inspiration. "It comes from others crafters' blogs, of course", I thought. However, there's an inspiration that comes from an economic empire such as Zara. I guess you all know Zara, since it's is a worldwide retail company. But do you know ZaraHome?. From time to time I get in one of its shop and find beautiful quilt pieces like these ones:
Hace unos meses recibí un comentario donde me preguntaban dónde encontraba inspiración. Por supuesto pensé en todos los blogs de artesanas que sigo. Sin embargo, hay una inspiración que proviene de un imperio económico llamado Inditex. Supongo que sabéis acerca de las tiendas Zara, ya que están por todo el mundo. Pero ¿conoceis ZaraHome?. De vez en cuando entro en una de sus tiendas y encuentro hermosas piezas como éstas:

Working On

Hand quilting will be the next step.
El siguiente paso será alcolchar a mano.
